Sports Massage
in Vancouver
Sports massage therapy adapts to where you are in your training cycle: pre-event activation, post-event recovery, return from injury, or year-round maintenance. With a Bachelor of Kinesiology from UBC and a background as a competitive athlete, every session is rooted in how your sport actually moves you.
What sport-specific massage means
Sports massage prioritizes movement quality, tissue resilience, and recovery time. Unlike general relaxation work, it accounts for the specific demands of your sport: which muscles fatigue, which patterns get overused, what's likely to fail under load.
Treatment is informed by kinesiology rather than generic protocols. We work from how you actually move: a sprinter's hamstrings, a climber's grip pattern, a yogi's capsular load, rather than a one-size-fits-all routine.
Who this work serves
- – Recreational and competitive athletes preparing for events
- – Runners with calf, IT band, plantar fascia, or hip flexor issues
- – Climbers and lifters managing shoulder, forearm, and grip overuse
- – Yoga, dance, gymnastics: high-mobility athletes managing capsular stress
- – Post-injury rehab once medical clearance allows soft-tissue work
- – Anyone returning to sport after time off and rebuilding capacity
- – Recreational athletes whose desk job is undoing their training
What a session looks like
Expect functional assessment: squats, single-leg balance, shoulder range, depending on relevance. Treatment combines deep tissue, joint mobilization, PNF stretching, and instrument-assisted soft-tissue work where appropriate.
Pre-event work is shorter and more activation-focused. Post-event focuses on recovery and flushing. Mid-training maintenance is the most common: deeper, more diagnostic, and paired with homework.
Every athletic client leaves with specific drills, stretches, or load-management strategies tailored to their next training block.
