Postural Assessment
& Correction in Vancouver
Recurring tension is rarely random. The neck that tightens every deadline week, the shoulder that aches after a day at the desk — these usually trace back to posture: the way your body has learned to hold itself. A postural assessment finds that pattern. Correction is the plan for changing it.
Reading the pattern, not the symptom
A postural assessment is a structured look at how you stand, sit, and move: head and shoulder position, pelvic alignment, how load travels through your spine when you reach or bend. With a Kinesiology degree behind my RMT training, I read posture as a movement system — which muscles have shortened and taken over, and which have lengthened and switched off.
The assessment gives your treatment a map. Instead of chasing the sore spot from visit to visit, we treat the imbalance that keeps producing it — which is why the relief holds.
Signs a postural pattern is driving your pain
- – Neck and shoulder tension that returns within days of every massage
- – Forward-head posture or rounded shoulders from desk and phone work
- – Headaches that build through the workday
- – A one-sided lower-back ache tied to how you sit or stand
- – Shoulders that pinch or click when you reach overhead
- – You've been told to "fix your posture" but never shown how
From assessment to correction
Correction pairs hands-on treatment with retraining. Manual work — deep tissue, myofascial release, PNF stretching — releases the tissue that has shortened around the pattern. Targeted activation work then wakes up the muscles that stopped doing their share.
You leave with a small, specific set of exercises built around your actual day — desk breaks, gym warm-ups, morning routines — not a generic printout. Two or three movements done consistently beat twelve done never.
Posture changes the way strength does: through consistent, progressive input. We re-assess as your tissues adapt, so the plan evolves with you instead of staying frozen at day one.
